Hi, my name is David Broadhurst. I am a fully qualified Driver Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) and Fleet Registered Trainer. In addition, I am also Lead Driving Assessor/ADI with The Wales Mobility and Driving Assessment Service (WMDAS), based at Rookwood Hospital in Llandaff, Cardiff.
I specialise in teaching pupils with physical disabilities in my fully adapted teaching car, together with pupils with neurodiverse conditions such as; ADHD, Asperger's Syndrome, Autism, Dyspraxia and Dyslexia.
In addition to the above, I am also qualified to teach pupils in their own hi-tech adapted vehicles, for example: Drive from Wheelchair, having successfully completed the Motability Hi-tech Vehicle Adaptations course.
I am a member of the Driving Instructors Association (DIA), who provide comprehensive public liability and professional indemnity insurance cover. I also hold a full, enhanced, Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate.
I initially trained and qualified to become an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI), back in 2010 with RED Instructor Training based in Bridgend, South Wales.
The pace of tuition is matched to the ability of the individual pupil. No two pupils learn at the same rate, some pick things up much quicker than others.
My ultimate goal is to get pupils to test standard as quickly as possible. I am not one of those driving instructors that drag things out for financial gain. When a pupil is at test standard I will tell them so. I will not put a pupil forward for a test until I am 100% confident in their ability to succeed.

Pass Plus Cymru is a short, higher driving course designed for young people to develop road techniques and to widen experience. It’s supported by the Welsh Government. There's no test at the end and by building on your driving skill, knowledge and hazard awareness, it can reduce your risk of being involved in a crash and can even help you qualify for a substantial discount with many insurance companies.
An easy way to calculate overall stopping distances:
(Distances shown are approximate)
20 mph x 2 = 40 ft
30 mph x 2.5 = 75 ft
40 mph x 3 = 120 ft
50 mph x 3.5 = 175 ft
60 mph x 4 = 240 ft
70 mph x 4.5 = 315 ft
